Our Ingredients

Every Ingredient Has a Purpose

At Line-A, ingredients are never selected simply because they are trending, sound beautiful, or look impressive on a label.

Every ingredient must earn its place.

We consider what it contributes to the formula, how it interacts with the other ingredients, how it performs on the hair and scalp, and whether it supports the purpose of the finished product.

Our formulations bring together botanical inspiration and cosmetic science. We study, test, adjust, and refine each formula to create solid hair care that feels intentional, performs beautifully, and meets our standards for quality and care.

Nature Inspires Us. Science Guides Us.

We believe nature offers extraordinary ingredients—but we also believe that creating an effective product requires more than simply combining natural materials.

A successful formula depends on balance, compatibility, concentration, stability, pH, preservation, and performance.

That is why our products are developed with science on our side. We research how ingredients function individually and together, carefully evaluate their proportions, and refine each formula according to its specific purpose.

For us, botanical and scientific are not opposites. They are partners.

Nature provides the inspiration. Science helps us transform that inspiration into a product you can trust.

Gentle Cleansing Agents

A shampoo bar should cleanse effectively without leaving the hair feeling stripped, rough, or difficult to manage.

Our bars are created with thoughtfully selected surfactants—ingredients that lift away oil, buildup, and impurities from the hair and scalp. We choose cleansing agents based on their performance, mildness, compatibility, and the needs of each formula.

Rather than relying on traditional soap, our shampoo bars are formulated to work within a hair-friendly pH range and provide a more balanced cleansing experience.

Conditioning Ingredients

Cleansing is only one part of healthy-looking hair care.

We use carefully selected conditioning ingredients to improve softness, slip, manageability, and the overall feel of the hair. Depending on the purpose of the bar, a formula may include plant-derived conditioning agents, fatty alcohols, humectants, or other ingredients that help reduce the dry or tangled feeling that can follow cleansing.

These ingredients are especially important in solid formulas because they help create a more complete hair care experience—not simply a bar that produces foam.

Botanical Extracts

Botanicals are at the heart of Line-A.

Our formulas may include ingredients inspired by plants traditionally valued in beauty rituals, such as purslane, hibiscus, rice, oats, baobab, rosemary, and other carefully selected botanical materials.

We do not include a botanical merely to decorate a label. It must complement the purpose of the formula and contribute meaningfully to the product’s story, sensory experience, or performance.

Each plant is selected with curiosity, respect, and intention.

Plant Butters and Oils

Plant butters and oils can add richness, softness, and nourishment to solid hair care formulations.

Depending on the needs of the product, we may work with ingredients such as tucuma butter, cupuaçu butter, murumuru butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, avocado oil, baobab oil, or other thoughtfully selected emollients.

Each one has a different texture, fatty acid profile, melting point, and effect on the finished bar. We select them not only for their botanical origin, but for how they influence hardness, glide, conditioning, and the feel of the hair.

Proteins and Hair-Supporting Ingredients

Some Line-A formulas include hydrolyzed plant proteins or other hair-supporting ingredients chosen to improve the feel, strength, body, or manageability of the hair.

Because every hair type has different needs, these ingredients are not added indiscriminately. We consider the purpose of the product and select ingredients such as hydrolyzed oat or rice protein only when they support the intended performance of the formula.

More is not always better. Balance matters.

Natural Clays and Botanical Color

The colors of our bars are inspired by the earth.

We use carefully selected natural clays and botanical materials to create their distinctive shades. Depending on the formula, this may include Brazilian clays, kaolin, charcoal, or naturally colored plant ingredients.

Because these materials come from nature, slight variations in color may occur from one batch to another. We see these differences not as imperfections, but as part of the character of a handcrafted botanical product.

Essential Oil Blends

Line-A products are scented with thoughtfully composed essential oil blends rather than synthetic fragrance.

Each blend is selected to complement the identity and purpose of the product—from soft and grounding to fresh, herbal, floral, or clarifying.

Essential oils are powerful materials, so we use them with respect. Their percentages are carefully calculated according to the formula, the intended use, and appropriate safety guidelines.

We do not believe that stronger fragrance means a better product. Our goal is a balanced sensory experience that enhances the ritual without overwhelming it.

Preserved With Intention

Preservation is part of responsible formulation.

Although our solid bars are waterless, they are repeatedly exposed to water during use. When a formula requires preservation, we select an appropriate cosmetic preservative and use it at the recommended concentration.

We do not avoid effective ingredients simply because their names sound unfamiliar. Safety, stability, and product integrity matter more than following fear-based beauty trends.

A well-preserved product helps protect both the formula and the person using it.

What You Will Not Find

Our ingredient philosophy is defined not only by what we include, but also by what we intentionally leave out.

No Synthetic Fragrance

Our products are scented exclusively with essential oil blends. We do not use synthetic fragrance or undisclosed parfum blends.

No SLS or SLES

Our shampoo bars are not formulated with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Instead, we select alternative cleansing agents according to the desired performance and needs of each bar.

No Artificial Dyes

The colors of our bars come from natural clays, minerals, charcoal, and carefully selected botanical ingredients—not synthetic dyes.

No Silicones

We formulate without silicones, choosing conditioning ingredients, plant butters, oils, and proteins to create softness, slip, and manageability.

No Mineral Oil

We prefer thoughtfully selected plant-based oils and butters that complement the purpose and sensory experience of each formula.

No Water as a Filler

Our bars are waterless and concentrated. You activate the formula with water during use, rather than purchasing a product whose primary ingredient is already inside the bottle.

No Ingredient Without a Reason

We avoid unnecessary fillers and decorative ingredients added solely for marketing appeal.

Every ingredient must support the formula, the experience, or the purpose of the product.

Beyond “Clean Beauty”

We understand the appeal of clean beauty, but we believe that ingredients should be evaluated through knowledge—not fear.

Natural does not automatically mean safe. Synthetic does not automatically mean harmful. Long or scientific-sounding ingredient names do not necessarily indicate that an ingredient is harsh or undesirable.

Our standard is more thoughtful:

Is the ingredient appropriate for the formula?
Is it used at a suitable concentration?
Does it contribute to performance, stability, safety, or the sensory experience?
Is there a reason for it to be there?

At Line-A, transparency means helping you understand our choices—not simply giving you a list of ingredients to fear.

The Line-A Standard

Every formula begins with a purpose.

From cleansing agents and conditioning ingredients to botanical extracts, natural clays, plant butters, proteins, essential oils, and preservation systems, each component is carefully considered.

Our formulas are guided by curiosity, inspired by nature, and supported by research, testing, and cosmetic science.

Because thoughtful hair care is not about using the greatest number of ingredients.

It is about choosing the right ones—and understanding why they belong.
